Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano which is a tall, conical volcano. It reaches a height of 1281 metres and has snow at the peak. The volcano is assumed to be 17000 years old and to have erupted 50 times. Vesuvius is located in Gulf of Naples, Italy, a tourist destination that is home to this volcano and the ruins of Pompeii from a past eruption.
