Short Writing Assignment:
Instructions
It probably seems obvious, but what seems like a really
noteworthy
aspect of comparing drama to the other genres and forms we’ve
read
previously is the strict focus on dialogue. While the other
texts had
exposition in the form of description or narration, the play
is told
almost exclusively through the words of the characters
themselves.
Focus on some lines of dialogue, or the interaction between
characters, and explain how these tell us about the events
transpiring
or the nature of the characters without direct explaining
them to us.
Why does this seem relevant to the way we’ve discussed
identity and
self-presentation in the past?
As suggested in previous weeks, if you have another topic of
your own
you’d like to pursue, you are welcome to do so
