Delivery is vital to an effective speech. So vital, in fact, that a speech can be delivered with no words. Consider, for example, the speech delivered by Emma Gonzales at the March for Our Lives in Washington DC. While her speech lasted over 6 minutes, she spoke for less than 2.

In this speech, she made an intentional decision to remain silent. As you can see from the reaction in the audience, there was confusion about what was happening. From Emma's perspective, consider how difficult it would be to stand with strength and confidence.

For your first post this week, we will be considering her delivery choice. Without considering her topic, her content, or her position, do you think she made an effective choice in her delivery? Why or why not? As you respond to the question, consider what effect her delivery had on the audience. Is there anything she could have said in words that would have been as powerful or as effective as the choice she made?
